Is Parlour Palm safe for pets?
Chamaedorea elegans · Arecaceae
Choose your pet
Light: Low to medium indirect light — one of the few safe plants that genuinely tolerates a dim corner.
Water: Let the top third of the pot dry out between waterings. Far more forgiving of neglect than the areca.
With pets: Slow, soft-stemmed and non-toxic. Because it stays small it often ends up on the floor within reach — a wide, shallow gravel top-dressing keeps cats out of the soil.
Look-alike warning: As with any palm, avoid sago palm (Cycas revoluta), which is not a true palm and is life-threatening to dogs.
