Is Haworthia (Zebra Plant) safe for pets?
Haworthiopsis attenuata (Haworthia spp.) · Asphodelaceae
Choose your pet
Light: Bright light with a little direct morning sun. Unlike aloe, it will not burn easily.
Water: Soak thoroughly, then let the soil dry completely — every 2–3 weeks in summer, monthly in winter.
With pets: The safe stand-in for aloe vera, which is toxic to dogs and cats. Leaf tips are firm rather than sharp, so it's a sensible choice for a household with an inquisitive puppy.
Look-alike warning: Very easily confused with aloe, which shares the rosette shape and is toxic to dogs and cats. Buy by botanical name, not by look.
