Is Calathea / Prayer Plant safe for pets?
Calathea spp. (many now Goeppertia) and Maranta leuconeura · Marantaceae
Choose your pet
Light: Medium, indirect light. Direct sun bleaches the patterning permanently.
Water: Keep evenly moist with distilled, filtered or rainwater. Tap minerals are the number one cause of crisped edges.
With pets: Completely pet-safe and low enough growing to sit at floor level. The nightly leaf movement attracts curious cats; a heavy ceramic pot stops the whole plant being tipped over.
